We are going to have to accept we must share our glorious views with others. Have you taken the time to look at the mountains? Beautiful sun shining on the snow, erasing the brown foothills, white clouds scattering above them. I had to hurry coming out of my gate this morning because they were bringing a house down the road. A little further along I met a truck carrying landscape rocks. I’ve gotten used to meeting the cement trucks and trucks hauling with a “pup” behind it. I learned a couple of years ago when they were bringing me compost, that a “pup” was the extra trailer. “Sure, I’ll take the ‘pup’ too.” I needed it.
I know that this is supposed to be about gardening – so – what would you like to know? The very first thing to ask yourself about the plant you are choosing is “is it for the sun or the shade?” Then, would you like it annual, this year; biennial, two years; or perennial, coming up every year. Mother Nature can put pink and red side by side and it looks good. Throw in a handful of blue with a splash of yellow. About anything looks good as long as you enjoy looking at it. Look around at the different landscaping in neighboring subdivisions and see how you like their color combos. You might think of how much water that plant takes – a little or a lot. Don’t know? Ask us. Good drainage is also something to think about. Or be like me, put it in and wish it good luck. It either makes it or not. Or just enjoy the great views we have of the Owyhees, Schaffer and Gem Buttes. They all have their own beauty and personalities. (Shirley just celebrated her 20th year with Edwards.)
